Welcome to Varicose Veins Treatment Blog

With the term varicose veins is referred to enlarged veins that may occur anywhere on the body but usually they appear on legs and feet. They look typically like swollen blue channels that pass right below the base of the skin. The arteries in order carry the enriched blood with oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body they have thick layers of muscle or elastic tissue. But in order to bring back the blood into the heart, veins mainly rely on the surrounding muscles and on the so called one-way valves. When the blood passes through veins, the one-way valves open and allow it to pass and then they close in order to prevent the return of the blood. TheĀ  vein enlargement is a consequence of a chronic increase of the blood pressure that directly initiates the veins to widen (expand).

When venous walls are spread the valves will no longer be able to close completely, so it will be difficult to achieve suppression of blood upwards. Instead of flowing from one valve to another the blood begins to lag in the vein which will increase the venous pressure and the possibility of clogging the vein and it begins to swell.
